Candidate Biographies

Annika Hannig - PC Candidate

Annika Hannig

Statement of Interest:
My introduction to the RIPE Community was the IXP-Tools Hackathon prior to RIPE73 in Madrid (2016), which was the origin of the Alice BGP Looking Glass.

I fell in love at first sight and many more Hackathons and RIPE Meetings should follow.

Now, almost ten years later, I look forward with joy and excitement to every single RIPE I am able to attend. I really want to contribute back to this community and I hope that giving some of my time and knowledge in networking related open source software development can add to making the RIPE Meetings this wonderful event.

Biography:
I was born in December 1984 in a small town in Germany called Neuwied. Already during elementary school I had a vast interest in computers and started to write code at age ten.

Later I found a couple of friends at school and we hosted LAN-Parties together and taught each other Turbo Pascal. I discovered Linux and Open Source, which opened an entire world to me. Having a C compiler at my fingertips just casually as part of system was a very formative and empowering experience.

Then I started studying Bio-Informatics at the University of Tübingen in 2004, with a focus on neurobiology and cognitive science. During this time, I started working for smaller web agencies, mostly writing PHP.

I finished my diploma in 2012 and had a brush with the world of startups, which eventually lead me to Berlin, where I later joined ECIX in 2015 as a freelance software developer.

His combined network operator, customer, and vendor background gives him a unique global view on current issues, topics and trends in the network operator community.

Greg previously served as a member of the NANOG program committee for eight years.

Matt Parket - PC Candidate

Matt Parker

Statement of Interest:
I am putting myself forward for a role on the RIPE Programme Committee because I care deeply about the strength and inclusivity of the RIPE community, and I want to contribute to shaping programmes that reflect its diversity and technical depth.

Until recently, I worked at the RIPE NCC as an Analyst and Technical Trainer, where I had the opportunity to engage with a broad cross-section of the community — from new LIRs and network operators to seasoned contributors and policy veterans. My role allowed me to stay close to both the technical and human aspects of Internet operations, and to support knowledge-sharing across the region.

Through my work, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for what makes RIPE Meetings valuable: not just technical excellence, but also accessibility, relevance, and community input. I’ve helped organise and deliver content in training and outreach settings, and I’m enthusiastic about bringing that experience to the Programme Committee to help curate a balanced, engaging, and inclusive agenda.

Biography:
Matt Parker
Analyst, Trainer, and Community Advocate

Matt is an Internet infrastructure professional with a strong focus on technical training, data analysis, and community engagement. Until recently, he worked at the RIPE NCC as a Senior Analyst and Technical Trainer, where he delivered training courses across the RIPE region and supported the development of tools and insights for the operator community.

Alongside his technical work, Matt has been an active community builder, helping to strengthen connections between network operators, policy makers, and Internet governance stakeholders. He is particularly passionate about making technical knowledge accessible and fostering inclusive participation within the Internet community.

Matt continues to be involved in community initiatives and remains a strong advocate for collaboration and open standards in support of a stable and resilient Internet.

Aftab A. Siddiqui - PC Candidate

Aftab A. Siddiqui

Statement of Interest:
I am writing to express my interest in joining the RIPE Programme Committee (PC). With over 15 years’ experience in Internet infrastructure operations and community-driven technical events, I believe I can bring both practical expertise and regional perspective to the PC.

I believe there is great value in cross-pollinating content and experiences between the APAC region (particularly through APRICOT and SANOG) and RIPE Meetings. I would like to contribute by serving as a bridge between these communities and bringing an external regional perspective to the programme.

Biography:
Aftab Siddiqui currently works for the APNIC Foundation (a Not for Profit Entity supporting Internet development in Asia Pacific) and is based in Sydney, Australia. He brings almost two decades of experience in technical and business operations within the Internet service provider industry, combining with technical expertise. His work has focused on technology and infrastructure development, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and capacity building, with particular emphasis on routing security, IPv6 adoption, and Internet Exchange Point development.

In his current role as Head of Stakeholder Relations, Aftab leads the Foundation’s engagement with a diverse set of stakeholders, including the technology industry, academia, development
organisations, and community partners.

Aftab is known in the Internet community for his active contributions to network operators groups across the Asia Pacific and his engagement in regional and global forums on Internet infrastructure. He has been instrumental in projects such as the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS), which he spearheaded while working for the Internet Society. He has long been involved in mentoring and training programs to help build the next generation of Internet leaders while serving on the board of the Asia Pacific Network Operators Group (APNOG).
